March 2009
Portable Use
First Grade: By grade level. Either sixth or third grade since they are on that side of the building.
Second: 3rd or 6th. Easier/better for a 6th grader to handle the stranger/danger or luring situation than a 3rd grader.
Third: Advantage of having both grades on same lunch schedule
Fourth: worries with younger students needing to go to restroom with less control. Maturity with grade levels would make 6th a better choice vs. 3rd.
Fifth: 3rd or 6th
Sixth: prefer another grade level. Sixth grade bodies very big. Used tables in portables to help with 6th grade student size. Can always add bodies to tables. Need to have a program that fits sixth grade. Sixth grades can better handle a bathroom scheduled time. Carrying lunches on stairs.
Counselor: Closer to junior high experience with transitions
Librarian: Help to alleviate congestion with higher class numbers during transitions; especially in terms of student numbers in classroom and body size.
Field Trips
New rules and new forms
Approved by building principal as well as district before it actually can be advertised to parents.
Parents in Building
Parents coming in at 8:05 am. Not seeing badges. Students walking in to put items away. Something in the bulletin. Teacher may say not available at that time, important time to meet and better to schedule to meet to honor time. Students expected to have badge. Parents supervise.
IPODS/MP3 Players/Cells
Once on campus they are put away. Not option for read ins, parties and other class events. Not part of program. Eliminates concern regarding music content, video, etc.
Cell phones referred to office on first time.
Pizza Party? Tabled
SIP will be discussed next meeting.
Data collection and completion. Will review during April CT.
