Healthy Youth Survey
Mark Cooksley presented the powerpoint created for Carson Elementary with our 08/09 Healthy Youth Survey results demonstrating responses from our 6th grade students. This survey is given every two years and used to collect nationwide data about where kids are on various health issues. The info on our results compares Carson students to district and state results. Following are key categories that were of concern for Carson students:
- bullying
- fighting
- weapons at school
- enjoyment at school
Implications for developmental assets goals in this year's CSIP:
- include community connections
- bullying (need to remember spike in reporting that occurs at implementation of the Olweus program)
- 6th grade acknowledgements (at end of each trimester) encouraging and reinforcing expected behaviors
