ELL-WLPT Testing (Jennifer)
  • Test window is Feb 8 through March 5
  • All ELL students tested whether serviced or not
  • Jennifer will work with staff to create schedule
Resource Materials (Arturo)
  • Professional resources are available in library but not being accessed by staff
  • Where can it best be stored? (staff lounge)
  • Amber will showcase titles for a few minutes at eaxch principal directed or collaboration day
  • Ask Amber to put together a list of books/professional develoopment and intervention books
Master Schedule (Erynn)
  • Potentially build in intervention block into building calendar so specialists are not scheduled at this time
  • Intent is to provide an additional block of time that could be used as an additional intervention for specific kids
  • What do you do with the other kids? Academic or content based, enriichment, etc.
  • Subs brought in to assist in instruction during this time
  • Action: discuss with grade level teams, see if interest is there and if it can be feesible
Tuesday Planning Meetings (Kristen)
  • Issue: Some people do not have planning on Tuesdays due to double planningon other days, but makes for long days. Can this be protected for next year
  • Brouillet has common planning times, can we do that here?
  • 5th team likes Walk To Math time, can they block that time also next year?
  • Action: Check with teams and prioritize preferences (put together preferences and submit to PACK)
  • Consider staggered start times so all are not on the hour or half hour so crowd conditions do not happen
Assembly (Kristen)
  • NED Assembly started before 6th showed up (confusion due to 2 classes already there, office manager thought all had been called)
  • Future, prop open back doors for 6th entrance
Gym Space (Kristen)
  • Recommendation was to not open to gym during Grandparent lunches
  • Consideration was to spread out grandparents and special grade level and create buffer from other classes lining up
Retention/Promotion (all)
  • Who will see it? (Certificated)
  • Where will it be stored? (concerns on who could see it with some confidential info re. students and families)
  • Arturo shared history about tracking form for 6th to 7th, but recognition that it could be helpful within the building. Currently in buildings we don't have a good comprehensive snapshot so we are looking at a format to track within the school.
Diversity Day (Arturo)
  • Proposed over the last 3 years to have a building wide Diversity Day
  • Diversity committee developed a proposal but would require commitment from staff in the building to move forward
  • Date selected is May 27 or 28 (dependent upon Snow Make Up Day)
  • Format--open with assembly with some performances; then 3 45 minute sessions (Teachers would be teaching about a culture or a country) Blocks would be (;45-10:30; 12:30-1:15; 1:15-2:00; students would attend only 2 sessions with closing CNN broadcast at 2:15 or 2:30; remaining session would be parents setting up a booth about their culture for a Culture Walk during the session time
  • If we commit as a building, we will request support from ODA to purchase souveneirs for students on a featured culture--recommendation is East Indian such as a bracelet
PTA Involvement & Participation (Arturo)
  • Current board meetings are at 1:30 pm which makes it challenging to have teacher participation
  • PTA President has noted lukewarm response from staff for participation in some events (last year's math night and science night)
  • Concern: We don't want there to be hard feelings either way. Consider this as an awareness and perhaps discuss with grade level teams; how can we strengthen the relationship both ways
